Rolling at last
View from the other side
After wandering around underground Toronto, and asking directions from several passersby (yes I know real men never ask directions), I somehow found myself in the passengers lounge at Union Station looking back across the street at my hotel. Found the passenger service director (a.k.a. Conductor) of my train, got my compartment number, made lunch reservations with the food service manager, then followed the crowd to trackside.
Home on the train
All twelve square feet is mine to stretch out in and includes a fan, a sink, a toilet, a door, and best of all a window to watch the world roll by.
The seat is NOT comfy. Too straight backed, too low, not adjustable, but it’s all mine. I tried to get into the dome car, but that will have to wait until there is a vacant seat. I am thinking around 1:00 AM. But the view from my cell I mean roomette is great
For the next 1,000 miles there is little to see other than forests and marshes.
and the rare town.
The train is comfortable, but I am concerned about room when the bed is down. Now I know why the zip up curtain AND the door. With the bed down and the door closed there is no room for my feet in the remaining floor space. Going down the hall to the toilet involves opening the door then stepping into the hallway wrapped in the curtain to dress. Cozy!
I am tired so good bye for now.
